A very happy Samhain to you, Frances, and a moving tribute to witchy women down through the ages. Blessed are they, one and all, the warriors, the poets, the explorers, the boat rockers, the uppity women, the troublemakers, the questioners, the independent and the free spirits. I happily claim the archetype and rejoice to be one of them.

I loved this, Frances! I always really liked Circe. The instructions she gave Odysseus and the scene where he used them to summon the dead was amazing, in my opinion. Re Medea: I listened to a Clarissa Pinkola Estes recording comparing Medea and creativity that was wonderful. I can't help admiring the dark courage of these witchy figures, and others.
